About the Snow Garden

Discover everything that will make your child’s ski lesson a success!

At ESi La Toussuire, children can discover skiing from the age of two and a half in the children’s area. The “Bonhommes de neige” (Snowmen) group—for ages 2.5 to 3.5—enjoys a progressive, fun introduction, including a trial session to ensure the pace suits each child.

“Souris” Groups

Children aged 4 to 5 and a half join the “Souris” (Mice) group. They gradually build confidence and independence before trying out the resort’s slopes for the first time. Groups are limited to 5 children to ensure attentive supervision

At ESi La Toussuire, learning to ski combines technical progression, games, and the sheer joy of sliding. For the youngest skiers, instructors use playful exercises that allow them to naturally learn how to balance, glide, and turn, while gradually gaining independence.

Tailored progression

Each child progresses at their own pace in a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere. Group sizes are intentionally kept small to ensure attentive guidance: 5 children for the youngest groups and a maximum of 8 students in other group lessons.

Your child needs a ski outfit, a helmet, ski equipment (no poles), goggles and/or sunglasses, sunscreen, disposable tissues, and a snack in their pocket.

If the children’s ski area is located within the resort itself, no lift pass is required. Once the child is able to ski independently, the instructor will let you know the day before they move out of the beginners’ area so that you can purchase a pass for the remainder of the week.

Don’t panic

The instructor is a professional accustomed to these situations, so you should:

    • leave the child in the instructor’s care at the meeting point and avoid staying with them for too long.
    • avoid letting the child see you.
    • avoid contact until the lesson is over.

General questions

At ESi La Toussuire, we prioritize small groups to ensure each student receives better personal attention. Group ski lessons are limited to a maximum of 8 people per instructor, regardless of the time of season.

For the youngest skiers, the Snowman (Bonhomme de neige) and “Mouse” (Souris) groups are limited to 5 children. Group snowboard lessons accommodate up to 6 participants. These small group sizes allow instructors to be more available and foster individual progress.
